| You may not know… |
- Not all our host families are parents with children: some of them may be just a single person, a couple, or single parent with children.
- There are different sizes of homestay bedrooms but they are all big enough for a single person.
- Most families live in residential areas outside of the City Centre. It usually takes between 20 to 60 minutes bus ride to travel between the homestay and the College. Our nearest homestay is about 10 minutes walk from the College; our furthest homestay is about 60 minutes bus ride from the College.
- Not all the homestay hosts are ‘white’ British. Some of them may have an ethnic background, for example African British, but all our homestay hosts speak English as their first language.
- Some hosts may ask students to share housework, such as washing plates after dinner. Please don’t be offended. You hosts just want to involve you in the family activity and it is one way to show that they treat you as a member of their family.
- All our hosts are friendly and caring, and they will chat and practice English with you when they have time. However, this doesn’t mean that you are going to have one-to-one conversation with your host for several hours a day!
- There is no wheelchair access to the College or its accommodation provision. We regret that we are not able to accommodate such kinds of disability in our current premises. Please do discuss with us if you have any questions about support for disability and special needs.
